iPhone 4S teardown confirms 512MB RAM

AppId is over the quota
Also discovered are different RAM suppliers for the DDR2 memory and a negligible increase in battery capacity. The A5 processor. (Credit: iFixit)With the iPhone 4S starting to go on sale in the US, iFixit has, predictably, disassembled the new smartphone for the world to see. In the process, it has confirmed earlier reports that the 4S comes with 512MB of RAM, the same as what's found in the iPhone 4. iFixit is also reporting that this DDR2 RAM (for running applications) is from Samsung in its German iPhone 4S, while the Australian set, according to Chipworks, is from Elpida Memory. The flash memory for the 16GB version taken apart by iFixit bears the Toshiba branding.Another discovery is the very slight increase in battery capacity (0.05Whr). This seems insignificant so the claimed improvements in battery life are more likely due to improved power efficiency.Visit iFixit and Chipworks for their full teardown galleries.Via CNET
