AsiaD 2011Google has confirmed that the Nexus S will be updated to the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Engadget got the word from Android product manager, Gabe Cohen, who said that the Nexus S will definitely be getting ICS. The company is "currently in the process (of) releasing ICS for (the) Nexus S", but did not mention an exact date. Furthermore, he said ICS "theorectically should work for any (Android) 2.3 device". Of course, that doesn't mean every Gingerbread phone will get the update. It's really dependent on whether manufacturers want to provide it. In a statement, HTC said it was "reviewing its features and functionality to determine our upgrade plans". Considering many of the new features in Android 4.0 replicate what's already found in HTC's Sense UI, the company does appear to have to make some important decisions.
