A video of a Japanese gentleman trying out the iPhone 4S feature Siri made its rounds on the Internet last week. His thick accent could not be understood by Siri, which made us wonder if it would understand the English spoken by the rest of us here in Asia.

Our friends at CNET Australia kindly helped us out with this experiment. We recorded four Asians--Filipino, Malay, Singaporean Chinese and Indian--speaking a few lines and put them to the test on an Australian iPhone 4S.

Siri managed to understand some of the words, but we also got some weird results--one of which involved facial hair.

Watch the video below to see how Siri fared. If you ask us, you may want to practice your American accent in anticipation of the iPhone 4S in your country.
