The new BDP-SX1 is an improved version of the BDP-SX1000 that was announced at CES 2011 in January. Since then, Sony has upgraded the 10.1-inch swivel screen with the latest LED backlighting and added four sound modes. Otherwise, the BDP-SX1 is essentially identical to the SX1000 in most key areas, which includes Blu-ray/DVD/CD compatibility, USB media playback and a 5-hour battery life. This portable HD player is expected to launch on Oct 28 in Japan for around US$650. Availability for other countries in Asia hasn't been announced.
